Is it true that putting your nails in saltwater will help them grow faster?

I want my nails to grow long and I heard from someone that if they put their nails in saltwater, they tend to grow faster. Is that true?Is it true that putting your nails in saltwater will help them grow faster?
No, it isn't true. Salt helps reduce the bacteria, but doesn't make your nails grow faster. If you want your nails to grow faster, try taking some vitamin tablets and have lots of milk and calcium. Keep them strong by eating healthy and using clear nail polish so they won't chip. However, the downside to this is that your nails can not breathe, because the polish forms a solid barrier. Polish and polish remover can also dry out your nail, causing it to become weaker. Zinc, calcium, and iron help nails become healthier and less prone to break off. Oil is really good for your nails. Almost every kind is good for your nails, such as olive, vegetable, etc. However, emu is one of the best for nail health. It locks moisture in your nails. Is it true that putting your nails in saltwater will help them grow faster?
thanks tha really worked

i am not sure but you can take over the counter pre nate vitamins I know it sounds wierd but it works it will also make your hair grow.
Its not true. The speed that your nails grow all depends on the strength of your nails.

Try using nail polish that strenthens your nails, it works for me!

I hope this helps

  • What can help my nails shine on top of nail polish?

Ok tomorrow is my first day of high school and I'm soo nervous and scared! I want to look my best so im going to paint my nails and i dont have the top coat stuff or the little foam thing to do it so is there anything i can use around the house to make my nails look really shiny? What can help my nails shine on top of nail polish?
Olive oilWhat can help my nails shine on top of nail polish?
okay, you can try top coat.

but i'll give you a tip on your first day of high school! :)

cause i had my first day of high school TWO days ago!

high school is TEN times bigger %26amp;%26amp; better then middle school.

it's only my second day and i can tell i'm gonna like it a lot better then middle school.

you WILL get lost, that's a gaurentee. :)

i got lost so many times, and i was late to all my classes, good thing they didnt count tardies. :D

i also tried to be myself. i didn't dress up fancy, didn't do my makeup fancy, you should try doing that too. :)

i really hope you have fun tomorrow, cause i had fun my first day.
    Vaseline!

Use only a small bit and rub it over your nails with a tissue.

This is only temporary however. (It won't wash off instantly as it's water-proof, but it will wear off over the day).

I've seen it used on girls at photoshoots who forgot to get manicures. They'd buff the girls nails with a nail buffer to make them pink (don't do this because you've got polish on) and put vaseline over top o give it a ';clear coat'; look.
well i was going to say a top coat to make em shine but Pour about a tablespoon of olive oil in a bowl. Dip your finger in the oil and use it to massage the oil into your nails and cuticles. This will enhance the shine you have created with your buffer and moisturize your nail bed.

    then paint them
    hey

well if u dont want to buy the top coat a cheap method u can use is after your done painting ur nails and cleaning up the edges put some vasline on them just a little rub it in ur nails put it on before school 2, but rub off if u get it on ur hands this will make ur nail polish shine, have fun on the first day!

    luv ali
clear sparkly nail polish works or a lighter version of the color that your gonna wear.

    and dont be nervous

    high school is great

    =]
Clear sparkly nail polish works and so does just a simple clear coat
just pick a flat color, there in right now ( like flat pink very popular as well as falt blue ) if not dont worry its just nail polish. pick ur color and go dont worry!

    =)
Just go buy a top coat.

They're cheap-ish and they work awesome.
    Clear nail polish

How do you get nail glue off of your nails?

So I got these fake nails from Claires, and after they fell off they left the dry glue on my actual nails and it isn't coming off. What should I use to take it off with out hurting my nails? How do you get nail glue off of your nails?
I use nail polish remover and it works pretty good. but you still have to scrap it off a bit! Good Luck! :)How do you get nail glue off of your nails?
You can soak a cotton ball with polish remover and place it on your nail, and then wrap your finger with aluminum foil. Leave it for about 10 - 15 minutes, and everything should come off smoothly.

Then you can lightly buff your nails to remove any excess glue that stayed on.
When i put on fake nails i fill up the sink with warm water and then peel the nails off. They glue will come off sooner or later.

How can i remove my acrylic nails without destroying them?

I DO NOT WANT TO GO TO THE SALON!!! I want to take them off, but not to the point were they disolve. Can i just pull them off? Please help.

ThanksHow can i remove my acrylic nails without destroying them?
I agree. They are bonded to your nail; you can't reuse them. You have to dissolve them. If they are lifting off already, it is possible to chip and pop them off, but this is very painful and very damaging to your nail bed. Get some acetone from the beauty supply store and soak them off at home. Then use Nailtiques or something like that on your nails until the damaged part grows out.How can i remove my acrylic nails without destroying them?
okay so i totally used to have acrylic nails. Okay yes i understand that you don't want to dissolve them, but you have to. There are to options, going to the salon and having them file them off or buying pure acetone and dissolving them. If you pull them off your real nails are going to pull off with them, which would suck. So get a bowl and some pure acetone, put on your fav. TV show and soak.

    hope this helps!

How do you get better looking nails?

Does anyone have suggestions for getting stronger, harder and prettier nails via external remedies? I take vitamins so possibly I'm taking care of the internal part.

I recently stopped biting them for the first time in my 19 years and they are ugly.

Please tell me what you know and thanks for the answers. How do you get better looking nails?
make sure your cuticles are well maintained...like cutting them so they don't grow up your nail.

then something like 'hard as nails' would probably make them harder. it's a nail liqueur that you can find almost anywhere (Walgreen's, walmart etc)How do you get better looking nails?
Have a good diet with lots of nutrients (protein, calcium, iron, etc.) and I started taking fish oil and biotin supplements which made my nails AMAZING. They used to not grow and they'd be all split and gross. Now they grow super long in only a few days and look great.
I know a friend that takes vitamins made from fish oil, they make her hair and nails look amazing.

Also you could just buy some Hard As Nail or another kind of nail strengthener.

    Try to find something here:

    http://www.sallybeauty.com/Nail%20Streng鈥?/a>
i guess u should file your nails with a filer and than you should apply nail hardeners.you can get that from a pharmacy, before applying nail hardener u should wash your nails 2 make it sure its clean, apply nail hardeners daily.
ive heard that putting tea tree oil on them helps them grow long and strong.

How do i take nail varnish off my nails?

I have put some bright pink nail varnish on and it has stained my nails and i don't know how to get it off,, is there anything you can buy to remove it.How do i take nail varnish off my nails?
    1. Try Nail Varnish remover.

    2. Soak in alcohol and rub with cotton pads.

This next one is not recommended but if done right will take most of the nail varnish off.

    3. Put another coat on each nail and rub off immediately (do this one nail at a time), this should take off both coats...the old and the new coat.

You may just have to let it grow out. Another option is to file and buff your nails which will help get rid of this stain. However don't overdo this process because it will make your nails too brittle and they may break more easily.

Another option is to cover it temporarily with other nail polish or put on some clear polish...leave to dry and then remove with some nail polish remover...the clear may of attached to some of the pink stain and may help get rid of the stain when you take it off...as before, don't do this to often because the polish and remover can damage your nails if overdone! How do i take nail varnish off my nails?
go to a beauty supply store that will sell to the public, like Sally Beauty supply, and buy a good nail buffer. Get one that has a coarse pad and a soft buffing pad. Use the coarse side to SLIGHTLY file off the layer that is stained. Then buff it back out to a smooth glossy finish. Don't do this often because it will thin the nails. But just this once it should be fine. I've done it myself with good results more than once, but certainly not often. Next time make sure you use a good base coat before applying a bright or dark shade, or really any shade. base coats make the polish go on more smoothely and last longer before they chip. hope that helps! :)
the nail polish has stained ur nails because it has penetrated the porous top layer of ur nail. it's stuck and u'll have to let it grow out.

in the meantime, use a clear base coat to better seal the nail from the color u use. and while ur nails are growing out u'll need to keep them polished to cover the 'stain'

the only other thing u can do is to file down in to the nail to gring off the stained layer ... but don't do this because this would make u'r nails thinner and way more likely to split and break, and that's a completely worse problem

    good luck
    It's called NAIL POLISH REMOVER..

    Get some.. It really works..

How long does it take short nails to grow?

I cut my thumb nail too short by accident and it started bleeding a little. I put medicine and a band-aid on it.

How long does it take to grow back again? How long does it take short nails to grow?
depends. i haven't bit my nails in 2 years. i cut them down to the skin last week and now when you look at my palms you can see the undersides of my nails. mine grow pretty fast. How long does it take short nails to grow?
You're looking at about a month of waiting. What you can do to facilitate the nail growth is to cut any skin that may be in the way, you know, right in front of the nail. Sometimes skin has a tendency to grow up and over the nail and you don't want that. Good luck and next time don't cut, file!
it grows everyday but will have it longer by 1cm after 1 week
depends on how healthy they are. If your body has a descent amount of vitamins, then I would say a week or 2

    4.flatts or strappy flat sandals

    5. not sure

    6-7
    1. I like it, but I wouldn't wear it. (I'm 14, btw)

    2. Uhmm , it's kind of pushing it. I think it would be best on a 16-18 year old, but if you look like your 14 (or older), then yes. It would be fine, especially with olive skin because there would be a lot of contrast, so it would look even better. :]

    3. A pool party. (I wouldn't wear it in fall or winter unless it's very warm out)

    4. Flats, maybe silver or gold. Or gladiator sandals--but I prefer flats.

    5. I`m not sure. Since the dress kind of hangs like that, maybe slim or someone with a tiny waist. I would put a belt in the middle just above the waist to emphaize the small size of the waist, and to make the dress seem less baggy. Also because it emphaizes on the boobs, it would look better on someone with a larger sized chest. OR you could wear a plain white or black shirt under the dress. Some girls at my school do that a lot, but usually with shirts. So idk if that would look good or not. :/

    8/10
I love this dress!! but you have to be skinny to wear it haha. cuz i don't think anyone wants to see hanging fat in those tiny straps! lol sounds gross but yeah...

    silver!

thats gonna be looking cute ccuz 2 coats of green and a sprinle a glitter sliver

maybe a lil darker than this picture down here well whatever matches your dress but make sure it stands out
Silver to match the glitter, or the same colour as your shoes.

    Unless their green shoes.
I would say either a silver-ish black, or just silver. Pretty much any thing in the black and white color scheme.
I think Pearl would look really good,

or match it with the color of your shoes/make up,

or clutch if you're taking one. (:
omg NOT GREEN. you never never never match nails to your top or dress. a coral would work. or silver

black sometimes works. but that depends on the event
A pearly or silvery white all over?
I would go with a pink or a coral. It would stand out really nicely.

How do you cut a bunnies nails?

My rabbit is very fidgety and his nails have gotten quite long, how should i trim them and with what? How do you cut a bunnies nails?
get a friend animal to hold her while you clip her nailsHow do you cut a bunnies nails?
Well you cut them the same way you would cut a cat or dogs nails. But if you are worried have a trainned professional cut them at the groomers.
its best to go to a vet because if your rabbit is like that you might be in the middle of trimming and your bunny moves then you have alot of blood to control as it would cut the vein thing in the nail.

    Evie

    xx
I have been told that if yu cut too far you will case the rabbit pain. A vet will do it for the cost of a consultancy fee.
get a special clipper at petsmart or petco
First you need to get used to trancing your rabbit by holding him on his back like a baby, close to your body. Do not let him twist out of your arms as he will hurt his back. Have someone hold a flashlight to his nails to tell where the quick is and mark it with a perm pen. the cut halfway between the mark and the end of its nail. Repeat until you can get closer to the line over a few weeks. If you do cut the nail too short it will bleed alot but the rabbit willnot die. Use flour on the nail to stop the bleeding.
my bunnies nails grew so long and sharp that if he accidently scratched me i would start to bleed. i cut his nails with normal nail clipppers(the big ones). they also sell bunny clippers at pet stores
You use pet nail clippers but ask a veterinary nurse or surgeon to show you how to do it properly. If you do it wrong and cut too far it will bleed and be very painful because you will have severed the little bit of living flesh down the middle (i think it's called a quick or that could just be dogs.).
ask for some ones help.. you hold your rabbit up side down keep petting him and ask someone to cut them to the pink NOT in but close to the pink
you can get special clippers, or you can just use wire cutters, or regular nail clippers. you just need to hold ur rabbit in a comfortable poststion, but so that it will be easy to get to their feet. then u just need to cut the pointy curve of the nail, but not go too close to the quick(the pink ofblack part depending on the color of the rabbits nails)
    haha this is under ';rodents'; ha lol... but here: http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/rabbits/h鈥?/a> you dont need to go to the vets if you do it carefully, try not to cut where the blood stops and if you do, stop it with a cotton ball or ';kwik stop';
You need to go like wa-mart or a pet store. They have nail clippers for anilmals. The clippers should have a stopper on them so you can't cut down to far. Animals have skin inside thier nails, if you cut them down too far you will clip the skin and hurt them. Once you get them, have someone hold the bunny while you cut the nails, just be careful. If you cut one and the bunny is okay the do the rest at that length.
get a specal nail cotter or my mom uses a dog nail cutter on mine and you need to have some one hold him while you do and to help him stop fidgiting.try talking to him gently and when you go like ';shhhhhhhhhh'; very softly in their ears it helps them stay calm and relaxed.they will jump a little when you clip them and if you cut them too short they will BLEED!so be CARFUL!hope this helps!

Is it ok to remove acrylic nails before the grow out or start to lift?

I just got my acrylic nails done a week ago. I want to take them off soon. Is it ok to take them off befor they start to lift or grow out? Will this damage my nails? Is it ok to remove acrylic nails before the grow out or start to lift?
depending on the strength of the adhesive and the amount of pressure the nails have been under, the amount of damage to your nails varies. i've done this before, and my nails recovered reasonable fast, but i kept them covered with a clear nail-strengthening polish. a good way to test if pulling of the nails will damage your nails is to take a nail file and stick it between the fake nail and real nail by your cuticles and see how much it hurts to pry it off. if you planned to soak the nails off in acetone, you will probably suffer very little damage. Is it ok to remove acrylic nails before the grow out or start to lift?
yes but make sure u use a nail remover product or just soak in acetone nail polish remover
It would be fine if you soak them in acetone polish remover. For the lenght of time you've had them on, you should have No damage to you nails. I hope this answers your question.
yes but steep your nails in acetone to soften them your nails will be ruined anyway because acrylics tend to do so but by soaking them before taking them off will give you less chance of brittle nails. apply some clear polish on your nails once they are off as this will harden the nail plate because acrylics soften them. you should go for a manicure and french polish this is the easier way and is so relaxing you obviously get very bored with acrylics as they are meant to last 4 - 6 weeks

french polish would suit you best and cause less damage. good luck x
yes it will damage your nails but this will happen no matter when you take the acrylic nails off. The longer you let the nails grow out, the less damage there will be. It will look like you nails are peeling when you take the acrylic ones off, so you will need to buff your nails then put some sort of repair polish or just clear polish on them.

french polish would suit you best and cause less damage. good luck x
yes it will damage your nails but this will happen no matter when you take the acrylic nails off. The longer you let the nails grow out, the less damage there will be. It will look like you nails are peeling when you take the acrylic ones off, so you will need to buff your nails then put some sort of repair polish or just clear polish on them.

I have heard that hair and nails grow faster when you're pregnant. Exactly how fast? What is/was your experience? Or hairdressers can u tell me?How fast did your hair and nails grow when you were pregnant?

How do you stop biting your nails and fingers?

Well, this may sound gross but i need help. I have bitten my nails forever and i want to stop, but i cant. I don't just bite my nails i tear at the skin around my nails. My mom says its stress but she doesn't know where from, i don't either. How do i stop?

Plz no answers about how gross it is.How do you stop biting your nails and fingers?
    Well, I used to ALWAYS bite my nails. There is this nail polish that my mother made me wear, its clear and you can get it at a pharmacy. I used the one called Control it, and it makes your nails nard and so sour its just disgusting to bite them. Another product my friend used was ';Nibble no more';

You could also just always paint them and keep them perfect that way, sometimes that helps :)How do you stop biting your nails and fingers?
This was a hard habit for me to break, it took me three different tries to finally get this, i tried nail polish first, that didnt really work... so next i tried bandaids, they kept falling off... so i finally tried a stress ball and kept it with me at all times, and i would pull it out of my pocket every time i got bored, so eventually my stress almost went away and my friends noticed a difference in my attitude (in a good way) and i had better nails too...
ok we are alike in that department uhm I guess there is this nail polish stuff it goes on clear and when you bite your nails it leaves a sour taste in your mouth,I have no clue what it is called but you can get it at a Drug store like Rite Aid,Walgreens,I'm sure Wal-mart has it if you looked maybe even Dollar General or Family Dollar, that and protect 1 nail at a time like your pinky..if you wanna bite your nails do it on the one your NOT protecting
I used to bite my nails too.

My mom told me to just keep going one at a time. And that it takes about 30 days to break a bad habit. Maybe you can have someone follow you and when you are about to bite a nail... make them yell at you. About a month later, the habit was just gone. I couldn't bite them anymore. (And now i got braces so it would be really hard to bite them anyways.
I used to do that when I was 4. I stopped at around.. 10 i think. However, I peel my nails. I hate clipping them. It annoys me for some reason lol. Then afterwards, I file my nails and then it becomes nice and smooth. And how I stopped was easy. Will power. I knew it was kind of weird.. to bite my nails so I just stopped. Everytime I felt like biting my nails, I sat on my hands and watched TV.
Soak your fingertips in something you don't like. Like Vinegar or something it will leave a bad taste on your fingertips and you won't want to bite your nails anymore but make sure it's something you DON'T like

    hope i helped =)
i used to do that ALL the time. if u paint you nails u probably will stop because it chips at it and the chips will get into your mouth and it wouldnt taste so good. haha. try it out :) hope that helps!!! :D
ive stopped and here is my method: stop biting one nail at a time. and then 2 nails, then 3, and until you stop completely. u will see ur nails growing and it will motivate u even more. hope this helps
mix hot pepper with finger nail polish dab your finger and and nail with it. you will stop or burn your toung off.
well there is this clear nail polish at Walmart called

    ';Stop The Habit Stop The Bite';

im pretty sure thats what its called i used it and it helped a lot!

    Hope I Helped!!! :)
think about when u do bite ur nails...how horibble it will look...and when u do bite ur nails try biting ur tounge but not to hard thats wat i did...hope it helps

How can I get my toe nails to grow faster?

Okay both my big toe nails fell of one about 3 weeks ago and the other last week. (I had these old gym shoes that I was running in) So yeah I really want to wear open toe shoes for homecomming which is end of september. The thing is not all of it fell of and the part that is left looks really gross. Help! How can I get my toe nails to grow faster?
No, there is nothing you can do to make your toenails grow any faster. The nail will grow out at its own pace, and that will take about 4-6 months - at the least, for it to fully grow out. But, by the end of September? Not a chance, sorry. And please don't listen to the answer that said get tips applied. That would be bad for your toe at this point. It would do more harm than good. I know how it feels, and how bad it looks. But have patience and it will grow back. Until then, just take care of it, and keep it clean. You don't want to do anything which might injure the nailbed in any way.How can I get my toe nails to grow faster?
Take Biotin a natural supplement found at your local drug store. It also makes your hair look amazing! If your toes aren't ready for your event go to your local nail salon and have tips put on. I've had them once and they turned out great. You can either have them painted or french looks classy. ;)
There is stuff in the nail section at the store you could buy. You could also take pre-natal vitamins. It makes your hair and everything grow faster. You do not need to be pregnant to take them.

    Good luck!
Include food rich in calcium and protein in your diet
get some green tea nail polish and put it on

What does it mean when your nails seperate into layers?

My nails on my thumbs have seperated into thin layers that are begining to chip off. I know this means you are lacking a nutrient of some sort, but does any one know exactly what? What does it mean when your nails seperate into layers?
its like dyingWhat does it mean when your nails seperate into layers?
it means you are lacking of protein. nails are made up keratin, a very hard protein layer. when they lack of proteins, what you are experiencing is what you get. eat many protein containing food. especially fish.

How do youh make your acrylic nails a solid color?

Like after i put the acrylic stuff { powder and liquid } on the nail , it often looks bubbley inside, how can i make it appear a solid color? How do youh make your acrylic nails a solid color?
Bubbles in the ';Pink'; nail-body area -

Why? %26amp; Solution or Prevention! Also ';Air Pocket';...

Also ';Center'; lifting or lifting in the center of the Pink nail-body

Cause 1: Cuticle ball of acrylic product was too dry, or the primer had dried. When the nail-body area of the fingernail is too dry, the acrylic product will not flow properly, into the ';Hills %26amp; Valleys'; you made when you Etched the fingernail. This can also cause lifting.

Cause 2: Cuticle area gets little air bubbles in the acrylic product. This can be caused by patting; most commonly these little bubbles are caused by not stroking properly.

Note: Although you may at times need to poke gently at the pink acrylic product on the nail-body of the nail-bed; Tammy always stresses ';stroking'; of the ';Pink';, and if the consistency is correct, you should not have to poke at the pink.

Note 2: When you have to poke or move the ';pink'; acrylic product with your brush, the ';pink'; acrylic product was applied too dry; consistency is the key.

Cause 3: When stroking with a brush that has product clogged in the hairs, the product in the rush hairs can create a type of suction. This suction action result is similar to patting.

Air Pocket: When a Nail Technician is really fast at applying acrylic nails, they MUST be very aware of the temperature of their liquid, and of the air flow in the Salon. Doing acrylic nails quickly, and not paying attention to consistency can cause air pockets underneath the Pink acrylic product on the nail-body.

What color should I have my nails painted for promotion?

I'm wearing a white dress that has lime green roses outlined with dark brown. I'm also wearing a white shawl, and ';goldish'; brown flats. So should have them painted a solid color or get French tips? What color should I have my nails painted for promotion?
French tips! That would look very classy! Because lime green or gold will be tacky. So basically white polish would be the only thing that will match. But obviously you shouldnt paint your whole nail white.. So french tips would look amazing (:

    Good luck!

And I hope this helped (:What color should I have my nails painted for promotion?
Well actually a good professional color would be a Pearl White or to go with a bit of an edge I would suggest a Pearled or Soft Metallic Gold. It says Professional but Fun.
French looks pretty with anything. I'd go with that.
French tips would go well with it

  • What can I do to my nails that makes them look nice but also natural?

I dont want to get acryilic nails because they are to bulky for me. Is there anything other then the acrylic and tips I can have the nail salon do to make my nails look like more then just a manicure? What can I do to my nails that makes them look nice but also natural?
hey mate, you can get thin natural looking arcrillics at good salons but they can charge you through the nose! or you can ask them to make them as thin as possible, but with arcrillics they will usually damage the nail and it can take a long time to repair it's self or grow out. the best option is to have nail hardning nail varnish for the base coat, this is not just a nail polish, it actually enters the nail and kind of adds extra fibers making the nail stronger and slightly (but not visibly) thicker, secondly make sure you regularly file your nails, about once a week unless one is damaged it should be filed right away to prevent further damage and breakage. thirdly to make your nails look nice and natural i strongly recommend french tips, this is done by applying a light, transparent, peach (skin coloured) tone for the first nail varnish, add a second coat, next you'll need a kind of sticker you can buy from any make-up store or department, this will out line where you will paint the tip of your nail white, also apply a second coat of this, make sure the nail polish is completely dry before removing the 'stickers', once this is done add a final coat of a shiny top coat varnish (clear). you should do this every 3 to 4 days or when needed. you may just wish to add another top coat after a couple of days. What can I do to my nails that makes them look nice but also natural?
Take good care of your natural nails. File them lightly on a regular basis, this stops splits. Paint the entire nail a pale pink. Let dry and paint the very tips a white stripe just at the tip, like a natural nail would look. Let dry and coat with clear. My wife makes me do this for her all the time. I won't say whatI make her do!..............kidding honey.
top and bottom caot clear and in the middle u7se skin colour nail polish.
I agree with Justin, it's better than all the chemical garbage. I used to get acrylic all the time I quit about 4 months ago and my nails are STILL recovering. :(
ask them to do a french manicure--They just paint on the white tips. I use Sally Hansen french tip manicure set. It's awesome! It comes with a pen that has the white polish in it, it's super easy to work with. I use it on my toes, and most think I've had them professionally done!
You Can File them, paint them, go get a manicure/have them treated, or in a beauty supply store, you can get a special kind of nail polish, that treats your nails. I suggest Ulta.
I've read in a magazine before that Julia Roberts dips her nails in olive oil. You could try that, it makes the nails healthier. Just apply clear nail polish after filing, much nail polish can make them look darker or grayish.
well u should just paint them a good color by yourself and they will look fine
I have never been able to grow nails! then about 2 years ago i took 60 (a whole bottle) of Hair Skin and nail vitamins, you took 1 day for 60 days. I swear my nails have been long ever since.I still have to have them manicured but try it. they were about 10.00.
french tip. it's fake acrylics and it looks prettier and more natural. I hate acrylics....they look like claws.....

( just ask them to paint it to look natural if they don't know what french tip is). GOOD LUCK !
just shape your nails and put on a clear coat. It makes them look clean and neat

Can I use acrylic nails on my toes after the nail falls off?

I had my two big toenails removed last week and, with summer coming up, was wondering about using acrylics. I've never used them on any of my nails before, but after they're half way grown in (in about 2 months), want to use them. Does anyone know if this is okay?

Thanks. Can I use acrylic nails on my toes after the nail falls off?
Yes that should be fine. Just be sure that there is some nail there to work with. Otherwise it'll fall off very easily

What is the difference between acrylic nails and silk wrap?

i just had my acrylic soaked off. and i was horrified by what i saw underneath. my nail looked so bad, and it was as thin as paper, i let them put the silk wrap on anyway because it looked so bad. if i wanted to eventually stop putting this stuff on my nails. what is the best way to transition to natural. i dont want to go through the soak again, its a very strong chemical. What is the difference between acrylic nails and silk wrap?
Well unfortunatly thats the only way. Once you have acylic nails it will take approx 6 months for them to grow back naturally. So what I did was I got a buffer for nails and then put 3 coats of a real good clear topcoat on until they get strong. I love the look of those nails but I agree I hate the after effects of taking them off too. What is the difference between acrylic nails and silk wrap?
silk wrap is your real nail w/ a silk layer over it, acrylic are thick and can give u fungus yuck!

How do I get my nails to grow longer in a reasonable time???

I bite my nails occasionally when I get bored. Are there any foods or anything that will make my nails grow longer. Also, are there any good ways to keep my nails healthy? Can anyone give me tips? How do I get my nails to grow longer in a reasonable time???
Eating gummy bears will make your nails harder. No joke! Also there are certain types of nail polish that taste bitter and might help you with your habit. good luckHow do I get my nails to grow longer in a reasonable time???
keep them out of you mouth
gelitin and milk makes them grow, so gummy bears, Jello, and dairy products with milk in them.

oh and to make you stop biting your nails theres this stuff you put on them like nail polish except its clear and it tastes awful so when you bite them it tastes bad so you wont bite them.

    Ari
No, nail growth is controlled by heredity. It is in the genes.
you can get this nail varnish that tastes horrible and stops you from biting them, its see through and you cud eat beans fish and eggs for protein to help grow your nail and hair, also oilve oil is good for dipping your nail in
My mom swears by this---if you can afford to get them get acrlyic tips to the length yo want your nails to grow. Leave the acrylics on until your nails reach the length of the acylics and then have them removed and start using the nail polish designed to strengthen your nails.
There is a clear nail polish by Nutra Nail and it helps make your nails grow longer in just 5 days and it makes them strong and healty. It's real cheap too and you can get it at CVS or any drugstore like that.
You can find a ';nail polish'; in the baby care section of a pharmacy or in the nail care section that, when applied to fingernails, makes the fingernails taste nasty. My sister used it and got rid of her nail biting habit.

To take care of your hands so that your nails will be strong: Make sure you only file your nails in one direction. If you saw back and forth, it will weaken your nails. Use lotion on your hands, especially at night. Rub the lotion into your cuticles to help prevent hangnails. Use only nail trimmers to trim your nails and follow this pattern: cut each side and then cut the middle. It's easier to trim your nails while they are wet and flexible, but do not file your nails until they are completely dry. Otherwise, the file will chew up your nails. Once you have them trimmed evenly, leave them alone. They'll grow quickly. At the end of two weeks, you should have beautiful strong nails. Keep taking care of your nails as I directed above and they will always be in good shape.
you can put some no bite nail polish on them 2-3 times a day, also you can use a towel and push the cuticles of your nails back everytime you get out of the shower.
O.k. first you have to stop biting your nails, lots of gross germs live under there - ick.

Go get a manicure from a quality, clean nail technician ( not a quick shop) to get things started off on the right foot.

You can use a nail strengthner BUT - and this is a big butt...

Unless you are using Creative Nail Design ';Toughen up'; as a base coat - other strengthners can dry your nails out - so if you are going to use them use them ONLY for a week or two then discontinue. ALSO use a quality cuticle oil EVERY DAY. I like Entity's Cuticle oil or Creative Nail Designs ';Solar Oil'; EVERYDAY before bed - after you are done with everything and you are going to sleep - use one drop on each nail ( doesn't matter if you have polish on or not) and rub it in. Use a quality moisturizer during the day. and BE CAREFUL with your nails. treat them like JEWELS not TOOLS ! Unfortunately- vitimins and other such claims do nothing for nails - If you understand what nails are actually - that is easy to understand. GOOD LUCK

use hair, skin and nail vitamins after 2 days my nails grew a ton and not breakable. and my cuticles are clearing up. and I am a nail bitter also
Yeah....keep your teeth away from your nails and watch them flourish. If you allow your teeth to dance across the nail then you risk of them being tempted into chewing on them and eventually the relationship ends up broken and left in pieces to be spit out one right after another. It becomes a bad habit and lead to disfigurement.

Possibly go to a salon regularly and have a professional care for them will make them feel special.

Purchase yourself a pack of sugar free gum to chew on when the tension or boredom arises for your teeth to take it's agression out on. Drink plenty of water and take vitamins to keep them from becoming brittle.

Use rubber gloves if your hands are in dishwater or cleaners.

How would you take care of a precious flower? Treat it special and garden it carefully not with teeth!!!
I know a lady who eats yogurt everyday and she says it does seem to help keep her nails healthy. I like to put on clear nail polish (not the cheap stuff) to keep mine from chipping off. Try to not bite them as it will damage your nails.

How can I remove masonry nails from my concrete wall?

I am removing wall paneling and behind it is a bunch of masonry nails with a very small head. Since they are in my concrete wall and have a small head, I cannot just use regular methods to remove them. How can I remove them so I can still waterproof paint my concrete walls? How can I remove masonry nails from my concrete wall?
These nails are very hard. Sawzalls and hacksaws will probably show you very little relief. Breaking them off will probably prove to be the best and fastest method. Smack them with a hammer as if you were going to bend them over. You may have to do this in two directions. Take care in doing this around any windows or doors as the broken nail may break glass. Also make sure you use Eye protection. The flight path of these small missiles can be very unpredictable. GOOD LUCK!!!How can I remove masonry nails from my concrete wall?
use a metal blade with a sawzall then cut them flush to the wall and plug the holes water tight. if you do it by hand you will be at it all day long
If they won't pull out, break them off, or cut them off with a hacksaw, fill holes and paint

Try painting your nails with Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails polish. It comes in all colors and it really worksWhy do long nails get chipped quickly while working etc and how to prevent nails from getting chipped?
you can use hardening nail polish... regulary file and buff your nails to keep them free from cracking which can cause large breaks.. your diet can also be a factor in nail breakage... try and keep iron in you diet.. chipping can also be a sign of a protein deficiency, so eat foods like chicken, fish or any dairy products
Make sure to use a base and a top coat, becaue they make it last way longer! Also apply nail polish to the top of your finger nail to avoid chipping and seal the polish!
    it is all right

How do you make your nails grow faster?

I used to have this nasty habits of biting my nails when i get really nervous and now my nails are so short it's disgusting! Any suggestion would be nice. How do you make your nails grow faster?
Nails grow faster during certain hormonal fluctuating periods, as in the beginning of pregnancy, or just before menstruation. Ironically, nail biting can also increase nail growth since it creates an increased blood circulation. For this same reason, those who are right-handed may notice that nails grow faster on their right hand than on their left.

Nail growth can slow down if your diet deprives the nail matrix of nutrients. Any illness can decrease nail growth, as can some prescription medications. Also, after you turn 30, your nail growth slows down.

    =P

go to wal-mart and get sally hensen miracle growth salon strength its in a gold bottle it work great
stop biting them. that will do the trick...guaranteed.
well, if u still bite ur nails u can go buy some no bite formula, u put it on ur nails and it tastes relly bad and makes u nevr want to bite ur nails again. if u dont bite ur nails anymore, u can get some clear nail growth formula. Sally Hansen works relly good.
Nail growth actually starts below the cuticle. Taking good care of your cuticles will give you strong, healthy nails in about 12 weeks or so. There is no immediate solution. Use a cuticle cream or a vitamin E oil and push the cuticle back; it's not healthy to cut them off and could cause infection. In the meantime, you could try using Sally Hansen Nail Wraps which is a breathable acrylic for your nails or a polish with a strengthner in it. I broke the nail biting habit years ago and my daughter loves my nails and has recently stopped biting her nails and is letting them grow. It takes willpower but you can do it. Besides, it's not a healthy habit either. Once you see how nice your hands will start looking, you won't want to bite them anymore. Good Luck!
eat a cube of jelly a day, have a french polish now to make them look better
if you go to a nail salon asks the if the have any nail growing proudcts.it worked great for me.
Try nail biting solution - I bought some for my cousin, it was FOUL. Her hand didn't go near her mouth again!
Eat a healthy diet, and quit biting them.

Sometimes if you go and get a manicure, you won't want to bite them as much.
i suggest taking a good multi vitamin with biotin as that is known to make nails grow and buy sally hansen nail products. i use them all the time and it works for me!
Hi there, you could try a skin hair and nails vitamin supplement purchased at a local high street store.perfectil is brilliant .holland and barrats works just as well.also if you're having trouble quitting the biting habit try a bitter polish(no bite)especially created to help you stop OR try taking something with you to play with in your hands, like oidz noidz(magnets) or stress balls.
getting manicures really helps! i know someone who has the same problem if you get a manicure you'll feel like you don't want to to mess your nails up so you don't feel the need to bite. if you don't have time or money, paint them yourself and use Sally Hansen's 'nail growth miracle' it makes nails strong and causes them to grow faster. hope that helped!

What are fiberglass nails and what are gel nails, exactly? How long do they last?

I've been getting acrylics for quite some time now and they always end up chipping, turning yellow, etc. after about a month. I'm considering investing in something different, even if it is a bit more expensive but only if it lasts longer.

Any ideas? What are fiberglass nails and what are gel nails, exactly? How long do they last?
I guess fiberglass nails are more natural looking and is better if you have thin nails verses a gel nail.

Gel nails are supposed to last longer than regular acrylics and look more natural. SOme people say they go on more easier others say it takes longer. I guess gels cost around $75 and then $40 for a fill. I'm not sure about fiberglass though.

I don't know much about acrylic nails but I do know that having your nails done for a long time is not good for your real nails.

Maybe you should let them breathe for a bit and just let them be.What are fiberglass nails and what are gel nails, exactly? How long do they last?

Thankss! How do I get my nails to grow long?
Hey there is hope! To grow long nails fast the have to be healthy. Take calcium tablets and Biotin- this stuff does wonders! eat a hard boiled egg or something else high in protein. Also, keep nails moist, when they get dry they become weak and brittle, to solve this problem slather on lotion and sleep with gloves or socks on your hands. You will notice a slight difference in 5 days.

Hope I helped :)How do I get my nails to grow long?
What I do, is soak them in water for 10-15 mins... its true, they actually work! And, if you go swimming, when you come back, they would have grown quite a bit. I have tried this, and it worked. I am like you, i like them model long. Also, its really cool, because u can do a lt of things when they are loing. French Manicures, acrylic nails, and more.! And any colour naip polish looks great. hope this helped.. good luck! xoox

sorry i did some reasearch as well, and if u eat well, your nails will grow healthier. So, fruit and veg, eggs, salad are really good.
You can't grow your nail you just have to wait for them and then paint them a nude color to make them look classy, unless you have naturally stubby nails then you have to wait even longer, sorry.

Some people have too much natural oil in their nails for polish. Make sure your nails are dry, go over them with alcohol dabbed on cotton first. Use a really good base coat, one that has an adhesive formula ( can't think of name). If there is a Sally's Beuty Supply near you, ask. Then use 2 coat of polish, letting each one dry, then apply a good top coat, reapply top coat every day or so. Good luckNail polish is constantly chipping off my nails, the same day I do them! Are my nails unhealthy?
My nail polish always chips off when I put a clear coat on b4 I put on the base color( and when i go to the nail shop they dont put clear polish on b4 they put on the main color and it lasts for atlease 2 months on my nails). And when you get cheap nail polish,it'll come off too.So try to not put on the clear polish b4 u put on the main color and get good heard of nail polish.
Not at all, you should always use a base coat AND a top coat, and make sure your polish isnt too thick, that could cause chippage. and if you swim a lot in pools with chlorine, the chlorine will ship off your nails. if it still chips when you use a top and a base coat and if its not thick or chlorined, then try switching nail polishes, sally hansen and OPI are both very good =]
Well there is always the possibility of nails being unhealthy but probaly not. The polish your using might not be the best brand or you might need more coverage. Try doing a clear base coat first and then a good polish. Stay away from N.Y.C. and brands similar. OPI is a good brand so stick with that. Maybe go to a nail salon and ask them to show you how to get it to stay.
    Doesn't sound like unhealthy nails.

Use Rimmel's Nail Rescue as a base coat to stop the varnish from drying your nails out [because then they would chip] then apply the colour. Wait for that to dry then use Nail Rescue again on top to prevent the varnish from chipping.

It works for me, and its cheap!
I don't think the problem is your nails. It might be the quality of the nail polish. a good trick to make you polish last longer is putting some nailpolish remover on you nails BEFORE you paint them. It removes the oil from you nails and makes the polish stick on better.
You should always clean the nail plate with a nail dehydrator first. Then apply a base coat before applying color.

some polishes will peel on you and stick fine on someone else. it's just the way it is.
    hmm..

    Well,

before you apply nailpolish youre suppose to apply a clear base coat..then you apply the color and then a top finishing clear coat to make it stay last longer.

if it still chips..your nail polish is probably sucky
Are you using a base coat first? I had the same problem until I started using a base coat. Seche Clear base coat is the best. And thier topcoat Seche Vite is the best topcoat. Hope this helps.
you could paint your nails and then add a top coat to it. like hard nails. :)

it works like bomb digg home brahhh.

  • How do I make my nails healthy and grow fast?

So I've been growing out my nails, but the other day a few of them got split so I just cut them really short. Then yesterday I wanted to try Press On nails, but some of them are already falling off, so I'm just going to remove them tonight.

Anyways, I want to grow my nails really long and thick, so what products or treatments help with that?

Any tips will help! Thanks!!How do I make my nails healthy and grow fast?
Sally Hansen has a nail product called Miracle Cure. It's in a blue nail polish bottle. After I removed my acrylic set, my nails were paper thin %26amp; splitting, and this product worked wonders on them. Also, Biotin supplements are pertinent for healthy nail growth. (as a bonus, Biotin also makes your hair grow longer %26amp; healthier.) Good luck. How do I make my nails healthy and grow fast?
Nutra-nail 5 to 7 day growth calcium formula! You can get it at walmart by the nail polish and its pretty cheap and it works great!
drink lots of milk.simple as that.
im in the same sitch!!!TToTT my nails are SOOOOO thin...

I have yellow nails after i removed the nail polish, How do i get rid of this by tommorow?

I've been invited to a wedding tomorrow what do i do!! I'm really panicking!I have yellow nails after i removed the nail polish, How do i get rid of this by tommorow?
put more nail polish on. It will go away i think my mom said it is because of the seal the nailpolish you had on doesn't allow the nail to breath or something like that I had that too and couldn't figure it out but It didn't go away overnightI have yellow nails after i removed the nail polish, How do i get rid of this by tommorow?
Hi dear! relax... no need to panic...

First, soak your nails in warm water mixed with mild liquid soap. Buff your nails gently then avoid using any nail polish. Your nails need to breath for a few days or maybe a week.

If it still wont work, then go to the nearest nail salon and have it fixed. You will look gorgeous then.

    Smile :-)
its a bulid up of colored polish. me and my friend have a terrible prob. with this try buffing them lightly!
is there really that level of silliness in the world?

!! millions of children are dying everyday from poverty, hunger and disease .. wars all over the world .. forests are being cut down, the earth is literally sinking by global warming . . and some people are panicing about yellow coloured nails after removing their nail polish ..

and even some sellier people answering that ..
    1. Use a common whitening toothpaste. Try scrubbing your nails with Pearl Drops, it's just as easy as achieving a pearly white smile and will take away any stains and shine up your nails.

    2. Soak your nails in water with lemon juice or lemon slices. The lemon acts as an astringent and will strip away stains. Once your hands are dry, you'll only need to put on a couple of coats of a clear topcoat.

    For more please visit- http://mynaturalbeautytips.blogspot.com/
    simply, put on another color..

    lol..

that thing wont come out until the nail grows enuff for u to cut it off..

and we know that wont happen by tomorw..

    dont worry thats normal.

Pour a little bleach like clorox in a small glass bowl

Soak your nails in it - take an old toothbrush or any kind of brush and and brush the underside of nails after soaking them in the bleach - do the other hand

    Repeat if necessary

    This works!!
Soak in lemon juice, or file your nails to remove the top (yellow) layer - condition with hand cream afterwards
u cant...its what happens when u wear nail polish..cos ur nails dont get any air and then the polish stains them..the best thing you can do is paint over them...the yellow doesnt go anway until it grows out!
I heard vinegar. My grandma told me.

How long should the original nails be when putting on fake ones?

So went out to buy a set of fake nails.

Right now I have decently long nails, but I was wondering if the fake nails will last longer if I don't clip them before applying? Or are the real nails better short before putting them on?How long should the original nails be when putting on fake ones?

How can I keep my nails from splitting?

I've tried many products but they still split and peel just beyond the white area. I don't want to use acrylics or gels. Any tips? How can I keep my nails from splitting?
soak them once a day in sunflower oil. that moisters the nail and gives them everything or Avoid using the nail polish remover more then twice a month. It contains alcohol which makes the nails and the surrounding skin dry.

Rub hand cream and nail oil in the cuticles and in the roots of the nails after every time you wash them. Moisturizing them makes them stronger and more flexible.

Use a buffer to get a shiny and a polished look instead of using a polish since the friction created by the buffer stimulates the nail growth while nail polish has a drying effect.

The length of the nails should not be more than the quarter inch beyond the finger tip. Keep the nails filed. How can I keep my nails from splitting?
You need to have a healthy amount of calcium and protein in your diet. Calcium builds strong bones, nails, and teeth. IF you dont drink enough milk, your nails will be softer and break easily. Dont grow your nails too long, and try using top coat (the clear nailpolish) to keep your nails hard. IF you have a crack, put some top coat over it to prevent it from peeling even more.

Don't be hard on your nails (don't use them to pick at things etc) because that will also cause them to break.

Rub some handcream into your nails when your hands start to feel dry. Try using thicker handcream like glysomed. Rub the handcream into the sides of your fingers and around your cuticles.

Anyways I hope this helps! Good luck =)
    thats very odd.

i think its definitely a diet issue you have hear. it may take a coupl months to correct.

i dont think you can buy a product that is going to give you quality nails.....

i recommend Rosemary tea, half a pot of water half Whole organic milk a good heaped teaspoon of rosemay tea in this 1.5 litre mix of liquid simmered till it goes a lovely green, and brown unrefined sugar to taste and a good dollop of blended honey and a touch of single cream(waitrose have an Excellent range, you must go). You must drink 1.5 litres daily, lovley with sandwhiches or cake.

Also use olive oil on your hair and skin(incl. nails), good green Oliveoil.

Daily. Meat is essential dailly, Fish is excellent Beef is best for me and Wild Salmon.

Fruit purees with a piece of green veg, Raw veg is also essential daily as is Prunes not in syrup. Cahsew nuts raw and brazil nuts and sunflower seeds. All Raw.

I also take a spoon of honey 3-4 times a day neat.

This is how i eat now, it is delicious, and food tastes better than ever. Healthy eating is the answer.

Vitamin B found in Meat(you must eat a little meat fat it is good for you) is good for nails hair and teeth.

The bible says, Meats for the belly and the belly for meats, it says not to refuse what the Lord has created as meat to eat.

The quality of your nails hair and teeth are very important. i had a friend who got superglue on his nail, he picked it off and his nail came off with it.. thats amazing.

i have been poorly for a while, a few years and have not eaten like i used to...

i have been over the last year been eating a all round diet....

i think you need Organic healthy food. it is not just a gimmick, you can taste the difference, and after a while if you try what you used to eat you will find out what it really tastes like.

i pick organic products carefully, i cant afford to go full organic but: Whole Milk(Incredible taste difference), Butter(really good for you), Tomataoes(Wow taste difference), Flour, Eggs, Onions and Garlic and Carrots plus Meat and Homemade Bread(incredible, with lots of yeast, i always put in too much on purpose. Yeast beats cold and flu. Pineapple juice and or Orange Juice not from concentrate). These will heal and repair your body.

my writing is a little rushed but basically olive oil in food and body, raw veg, prunes, rosemay tea, meats not from concentrate juices and honey, with Herbs, frnch mustard is also important and the best i found. These foods for me and many others have been the answer and i guarantee the quality of your skin and hair and nails will improve MASSIVELY.
Mine do too. You need to ';baby'; them out so you can cut Behind the peel. A drop of super glue on the tip will strengthen them so you can grow your nails out in order to trim off the peeled portion. Confused enough?

I've found good old olive oil on your hands (especially nail and cuticle) will help moisturize. Super moisturize with OO by wearing disposable gloves for 15-30 minutes (always oo and gloves when gardening).

';Hoof Flex'; a product for horse hooves is quite good at strengthening human nails. Do you have any ';horsey'; friends?

    good luck

How long should my rabbits nails be when they are trimmed?

I'm about to trim my newly adopted rabbit's nails for the first time. She has been extremely neglected and I really don't think she's ever had her nails trimmed. She's very gentle and sweet, so I'm not worried about the squirming. I'm just going to take a bit off every week until they are down to a healthy length so that I give the quick a chance to slide back. I just don't know how long her nails should be at a health length so I know where to work down to.How long should my rabbits nails be when they are trimmed?
animals nails have a vein running down them.

this vein will receede when the nails are continuously trimmed or rubbed back by walking on rough surfaces.

when are you trimming her nails be very careful of ths vein - if you cut it, not only does it hurt bunny, but it will bleed excessively.

If you do accidentally cut it, dont panic, just apply pressure to it unil it stops.

in some rabbits you might be able to see the red/vein.... probably not though if its nails are black.

To avoid this vein, it is best to cut a tiny bit off at a time. less is better. then leave it for a week and cut another little bit off... do this til you have them to a suitable length, then just keep them that long.

.How long should my rabbits nails be when they are trimmed?
Raspberry is correct and very knowledgeable so I suspect that Raspberry is either a groomer or has had rabbits or perhaps is even a vet or vet tech.

Not many people know what Raspberry has told you but now you do. . . .
I used to trim my rabbits nails after they were very long. I had to stop waiting so long because one day i noticed a small cut on her face from when she would clean her self. I suggest that you do cut a little at a time, but you really don't have to go week by week. You can go day by day if you want, until they are at a reasonable length. Also, cut your rabbits nails in a well lit area so that u can see how far you can cut down. Where the red veins start is too far . Your rabbits nails may be so long that the red veins may be very close to the tip, in that case you will need to go week by week in order to train the nails. After the nails are down to a length you like I think you should trim them once a month. That is what I do and I never have a problem with her nails being to long. Hope this helps..

  • Can over using nail polish remover make your nails turn yellow?

I paint my nails a lot, and change the color a lot too. I change the color sometimes as often as every other day.

I've noticed that my finger nails now have a yellow tint to them. Could the nail polish remover that I'm using be causing this?

If not, what could it be, and how can I cure it?Can over using nail polish remover make your nails turn yellow?
its the nail polish you need to use a clear undercoat before you paint them. your nails will stop being yellow after about 3 weeks probably, if you look after them

if you're already using a clear coat and there still going yellow, get new nail polish, or a new clear undercoatCan over using nail polish remover make your nails turn yellow?
Dark polish can do that, especially if it's red, brown, or purple. It's not dangerous, but it doesn't look good. You can prevent it by applying a coat of clear polish before you apply colored nail polish.

For now, try soaking your hands in warm water with lots of lemon juice or rubbing the fingers with a cotton ball soaked in lemon juice- it should lighten the yellowness. Rubbing them with hydrogen peroxide (the kind that you get for disinfecting cuts, not the kind for coloring your hair) also helps. I believe Sally Hansen also makes a product that is supposed to help with this, but I'm not sure.
well this happened to me but it wasnt the nail polish remover---it was the nail polish. it turns out the nail polish actually stained my nails. there isnt really anyhting (that i kno of) you can do about escept let it grw out and stuff. next time you paint your nails just put a clear base coat on before the color and it shouldnt stain.

it may also be that you are lacking nutrients needed in your nails. just a thought but i think it just might be the nail polish.
I don't think its the nail remover, but the polish. I have the same problem, and I was actually looking for something at the store tonight. However what I found was 15 bucks, and not something that worthwhile to me. I found from another post on here that soaking your nails in warm water with a denture tablet will help! :)
I know that nail polish can tint your nails, so I'd try using a base coat if you don't already do so.

If that doesn't help, then try a different brand of nail polish remover...though I've never heard of it yellowing nails, it could. idk
    A better and easier way for you to completely uninstall any unwanted application that standard Windows Add/Remove Program can\'t remove.%26lt;

its most likely the nail polish not the remover. try using a clear coat on your nails before the color

How do we prevent roof nails from sticking out under house eaves?

Our new home we are building has open eaves that stick out 2 ft around the house. The roofer said all nails have to stick out under the eaves 1/4 inch. The roof sheathing is 7/16 OSB. But the hundreds of nails sticking out look really bad. How do homes built with shingles %26amp; open eaves avoid this? We are in a HIGH Wind Area too.How do we prevent roof nails from sticking out under house eaves?
I think your contractor was too lazy to locate a supplier of nails that were 1/4 inch shorter. Now you have some work to do (but not as much as some have suggested). Carefully go around and bend the nails over with a hammer before painting. Be careful not to knock the nails back up which would loosen the roofing. How do we prevent roof nails from sticking out under house eaves?
Most houses do not have open eaves. You could cover your eaves with a thin sheet of board and run it along the bottom part of the roof truss to cover the nails. This would preserve your ';open eaves'; look and cover the unsightly nails.
I have seen houses with open eaves %26amp; they never had nails sticking out. He should have bought shorter nails.
I cover them with Styrofoam packing material

How can I make my nails longer and harder?

Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Instant Nail Hardener (clear polish) at your local Shopper's Drug Mart. 5 bucks. Works like magic, and within days! I am using it right now!!How can I make my nails longer and harder?
I know this is probably not the answer you're looking for... but I've been drinking a lot of milk for the past few years and I've really noticed a change in my nails. When I was younger (in my teens) I had really thin brittle nails that would break and tear. I used to use all of the Sally Hansen products and even drank the Knox gelatin mix in hopes of getting long strong healthy nails like all of my friends. I'm older now (30) and my nails are healthier than they've ever been. I do keep polish on them every day (work as a teller... want my nails to look nice for the public). My nails grow so fast that I have to cut them at least once a week. They get so long and are so strong and if I'm not careful I will cut myself with them or accidentally scratch one of the kids. My nails are definitely healthier than they've ever been.... and I would bet it's the milk in my diet that gets the credit for it.
There are these vitams called Hair skin and nails its like 3 dollars a bottle and u take 3 a day and it works soo much my hair grew my skin is softer and my nails are hard and long. you can get it at cvs walgreens any drug store

Why do cats file their nails with the furniture?

My cat is really pissing me off! It has ruined my favorite sofa, and I don't know what to do to keep it from doing that! Why do cats file their nails with the furniture?
Cats scratch to mark their territory, sharpen their claws and stretch their muscles. Here's how to help your cat curb the urge (or at least redirect it away from the sofa).

You can order a scratching post from www.ltdcommodites.com they have one, or from www.drsfosterandsmith.com it delivers to your door. Or Walmart sells them.

Or you can make one, take a square piece of wood, and then attach a round or rectangle piece of wood to that, with a screw, or whatever you need to use to attach it, wrap it with twine, or wrap it with carpet. Then show your kitty cat the scratching post, and put a little cat nip on it. Then your carpet will be saved. Hope this works for you.Why do cats file their nails with the furniture?
a squirt bottle and his very own scratching post
if you live on a farm you got it easy:

take a log that you use for the fire-place rope or tape a rope or some fabric like the one on your sofa around it, you've got a home made post.

there are special sprays you can spray on the sofa, doesn't like stains and you can't smell it just your cat, cats hate those spray's smell he should stay away from your sofa.

most online shops sale it, you can have them delivered to you with some posts. you can use regular mail it shouldn't cost you much.

    there pet smart and petco.

now the reason why cats file their nails:

    there are two reason-

    one to Sharp their nails

two that's another why establish their territory.
they do it to shorten and sharpen there nails
Do you have Trader Joe's where you live? They sell these inexpensive trays of corrugated cardboard that my cats love. I put them near all the couches and the cats have been gradually trained to scratch the cardboard and not the couches. If they stray, I spray them lightly with water. They like the cardboard better anyway b/c I sprinkle it with a little Nip.
Get a scratching post and place it next to the scratched area. Scent it like the sofa (rub the sofa cushions on the post). Cats are smell territorial. Then, go from there. Slowly (over days) move it away from the sofa- to a corner or something. Then spray the sofa with fabreeze or something to descent it. This will take patience and time. Also, get a CLEAN spray bottle and when the cats scratches to sofa spray the cat.
Because they are not allowed to enter the shopping malls to pick the nail dressing kit
It's an instinct they have. Get your cat a scratching post from a pet store, and some catnip. Sprinkle the catnip on the post and she will go to it.
Because they have not made a file they can hold yet without opposable thumbs.

    TFTP
cats shed their claws like bugs shed their exoskeletons. A ';sheath'; cracks and sheds about once a month to make a shiny, sharp new claw. it's instinctual therefore for cats to sharpen their claws to remove this sheath, and also to sharpen their new claws. In the wild this is of the utmost importance because they need sharp claws to hunt, but domestic cats just do it out of instinct.

So what can you do? A permanant solution is declawing. Because the new claw grows at the quick (a little piece of tissue under the claw) this is all cut off. However, this is extremely painful for the cat, if it is done wrong it can cause a new claw to grow in deformed and cause infection, and you permantly take away a cat's defenses, so if you NEED to declaw, declaw only indoor cats.

I hate declawing, so my cat wears softpaws, little nail caps that are superglued to her claws. They shed them every month when they shed their claws so they have to be reapplied, but I love my kitty too much to declaw her.

As always, keep a good scratching post available, train her to use it instead of furniture by bringing her there and rubbing her paws on it, or get ';stickypaws'; (or a similar product) to discourage her bad behaviour.

    Good luck.
Try this for a scratching post- http://www.petsmart.com

    http://www.petco.com

Try this for effective way to stop scratching-i use it,it really does work! http://www.softpaws.com

Good luck-these sites should help-petco usually has free shipping and is having a big sale-but it ends in a week-good luck!
we have same problem with out cats, um only thing i can say is put sumthin that smells really horrible an potant, like vinigar, an spray some on, or try puttin sumthin in front of where hes scratchin...
Buy your cat a scratching post! Buy some bitter apple spray to spray on the sofa where your cat is scratching!
    To piss you off!
Get a cat scratcher tower or box, and train the cat to use them. My two cats are trained to use the scratch box and the carpeted tower, but one still likes to use the banister at the foot of the stairs and the kitchen table leg.

The trick is to catch them when they're doing it in the wrong place, say no, and then grab them and place them on the scratcher.

For the furniture, I know there is a spray that is supposed to repel cats from the fabric, once you've sprayed the material. You can buy it at any pet store. I haven't tried it myself, tho. Good luck!
give it a scratching post if it doesn't use that give him wood that worked with my 2 cats
They do it to shead there nails, get some tape and put it on the couch where the cat is scratching, cats do not like sticky stuff on there paws. also like someone else has mentioned a squirt bottle would work. Don't let them see you squirt it because they will put 2 and 2 together and figure it out that they can do it when your not around, but if you do it sneaky sneaky then they wont know.
If you cant find a scratching post, make one!

Get some old carpet scraps and glue on nail them to a piece of wood, then cover it with catnip! Or, order one online, and ship it to you!
Simple get it a scratch post...all 3 on my cats use their post and i have plenty of toys for them to keep them busy...and keep their nails trimmed and short, i check my cats every two weeks
Cats evolved in the desert. They are used to burying their feces to keep it moist in case they cannot find water and need moisture. This tearing at furniture is almost an involuntary reflex like a heartbeat.
Ok cats scratch to mark their territory, to stretch, to exercise, and just for pure pleasure. I see that you don't live near a pet store, they sell scratching posts at walmart...or you can make your own. Cats LOVE sisal rope. So you can just get some rope wrap it around some wood and hot glue it all on there. Also to discourage your cat from scratching on the sofa you can squirt him with a water bottle...try and make sure that he doesn't see you do it...element of surprise is best. Then eventually the cat will associate being squirted with scratching on the sofa.

Another idea for scratching post: look on ebay...sometimes you can find super cheap ones on there...just watch out for the shipping costs. Also they have these things called ';Soft Paws'; they are these lil nail caps that go over the nail...all kinds of different colors and you can find them online too at www.softpaws.com

How to make nails grow normally after stopping nail biting?

    Hi

Over a year ago i finally stopped biting my nails, no i have stopped i've notice my nails don't grow like others who don;t bite their nails. They seem to grow away from my fingers. Is it possible to make them grow normally again?

Hope i've made it clear enough

Thanks in advance. How to make nails grow normally after stopping nail biting?
It will take time for your nail bed to re-attach to more of your finger nail. The key is to keep your nails as long as your fingertip. i.e. Do not cut or file all way down the white part.

If you need to clean under your nails, use a soft nail brush %26amp; follow up w/ moisturizer.

My nails used to be way too short %26amp; peel constantly so I stopped using a nail clipper and only use a nail file to shape and shorten them. I also started protecting my nails with thicker moisturizers.

I read somewhere that nail clippers can cause the layers of the nail to separate and filing is the best way to go.

I started with Revlon's disposable files made for weak nails. File in one direction only. Start on one side and file towards the middle, then go to the other side and file towards the middle of your nail. Smooth the nail into a squoval that mirrors you cuticle or the shape of the white part of your nail bed.

Finish the edges of the nail with a hindo stone, a smooth ceramic/stone nail file or the finest grit nail file you can find. You want to make the edges really smooth.

Also, avoid using metal nail files. I recommend using disposable nail files and changing them frequently. The fresher the grit, the less the drag which leads to tearing and peeling.

Some people swear by glass nail files but they can shatter if dropped.

I also use a cuticle balm or nail oil to moisturize my nails and protect them from water since I wash my hands frequently.

    (ex. Solar Oil, OPI Avoplex)

Vit E oil, jojoba oil, Aquaphor Healing Ointment, Vaseline or plain Chapstick will work too.

These tips helped my nails a lot. They are stronger %26amp; the pink part of my nails are longer now.How to make nails grow normally after stopping nail biting?
Perhaps you should go to see a doctor about how to make your nails grow normally, or what steps you can take to further take care of yourself. From there, they can recommend someone who might be able to trim your nails if they get out of hand (no pun intended) and be able to tell you why they are growing the way they are.

Congrats, by the way, on stopping your nail biting!

Vitamins make your nails grow a lot faster!! And I have noticed that when I go to the beach and spend a lot of time in the salt water, my nails grow really fast too! So, you could spend a little time each day soaking your nails in a salt water solution.
I have been taking Biotin (5000MG) and Prenatal vitamins everyday to get my hair and nails to grow for my wedding, and 3 weeks in I definitely notice a difference.
You can go to a pharmacy and purchace this product, and it works great!!

What brand of nails can you buy that are most like a nail salon?

Im looking for the french manicure type.

Thanks! What brand of nails can you buy that are most like a nail salon?
You can look for Nailene, but make sure that you file the edges before you apply them to make them as smooth as possible. What brand of nails can you buy that are most like a nail salon?
So glad I take the time to answer questions for people who do not even choose a best answer and just let it be picked for them.

they will never look as good as the salon...
You will want to go with Revlon nails if you are going to buy them from the store and do your own. They cost a little more than the other brands but they are much more flexible and fit much better than Nailene or Broadway nails do. They also last longer and they stay bonded to your nail much better.

How do I get my nails to grow more slowly?

My finger nails grow super fast. I painted them last night, and I already have ';nail roots';. I have to paint my nails every other day to avoid this. (Nail roots are when new nail growth comes in while wearing nail polish. Like hair roots.) I have to cut my nails every few days, or else they get really long. It is scary how fast they grow. Hey Audrey here r some tipz 4 u below (i kno itz a gurl question, but tryin 2 help my friend):

See if ur your nail polish contains biotin that cause nails to grow faster or any other nail stimulators. Try not wearing the polish that u currently using.

    If not, then:

    1. take fish-oil (omega III) pills (CVS, Walgreens, RiteAid %26amp; wat not)

    2. try paintin' ur nails wit these products:

    --%26gt;Sally Hansen's Nutrition Green Tea-Bamboo Nail (Walgreens)

--%26gt;Jessica Nail Pure Maintenance Nail Cure (online)

    3. Too much of these food dat contains rich nutritions of: Vitamins A, B-Complex, C, D, E, iron, calcium, zinc, sulfur, and the essential fatty acids can cause swiftly fast nail growth.

---%26gt; (Vitamin A %26amp; C) try eating less fruits that are yellow and orange/ veggies that are dark green.

---%26gt; (Vitamin D) less diary products.

---%26gt; (Vitamin E) take less supplements

---%26gt; (zinc) less beans, rice, chicken or cheese

***But I don't kno if this is gonna mess up ur daily diet***
Normally an admirer of your keen intellect, I'm surprised that you asked this as a legitimate question. Biology prevails, and despite the gaggle of hawkers of vain-ware, it's not usually possible to add (or take away) a jot or tittle of one's self.
    Not much you can do.

Your doctor may know some ways to slow it down, but it maybe one of those things that you just have to grow out of!
change your diet(unless it would be harmful to u ) something your eating is probably causing this do you take daily vitamins , that can cause it.
I'm afraid there isn't much you can do. I'm not sure any method could make them grow slower.. Mine grow really fast too.
    Stop eating protein
There's not much that can be done.
    cut moor
keep them in the dark wear gloves

to get your nails white again after you put nail polish on them is you have to get achoal or nail cleaner to get it off
I noticed once when i cleaned the bathroom, using diluted bleach and water, my nail tips were alabaster white. GLEAMING. Although, i would say bleach is hard on your nails.
    I usually use baby oil.
    Lemmon and milk (no kidding)
    lemon juice
soak in lemon juice or vinegar
i used white nail polish and it seemed to work...not really sure if it does for sure, though
hmmm..what do you mean exactly? to take the color off, you want to you a nail polish remover and a cotton ball/tissue. soak the item and rub it over your nail, until the color comes off.

to remove dis-coloring on your nail (like your nail is stained) rub lemon on them for a few minutes and rinse with warm water. use a base coat next time and it should not happen. also, try going to a beauty supply store (like sallys) and find a nail polish that removes the stains.
put ur nails in water and a lot of solt for 30 - 40 minutes. then cut a lemon in half and rub ur nails with lemon juice and powder soda.
rub your nails with a fresh cut lemon.
