I like fingerstyle guitar quite a lot, but I seriously don't want to have long nails, is it possible to achieve the same result with the fingertips?Can you play fingerstyle guitar without long nails?
you can try but you see when you have long nails your nails act as a pick. so the sound feels very crisp and its sounds like you playing with a pick. if you use your finger tips the sound wont be as great. trust me i know because my teacher wanted me to grow out my nails but i said no. but it is your descionCan you play fingerstyle guitar without long nails?
Huh? I play a fingerstyle guitar (classical guitar) and my nails couldn't BE any shorter... every time they get the least bit long, the strings grove them and I have to file them down... I can't imagine anyone playing guitar with long nails.
yeah i finger pick and i always bite my nails, im sure its a lil bit harder but just practice and you'll get it

i just painted my toenails black today, but i dont know what colour to paint my finger nails. i dont really want to paint them black to match so im not sure what colour to put. i was thinking maybe hot pink? i just want a nice colour or something that would look good with my black toenails.

I got fake nails put on more than a month ago. I want them off now, as they are looking pretty gross. They are outgrown and there is quite a visible gap between the fake nail and my real nail. My problem is that I can't get the nail off. They usually break off by now. What can I use to get them off? Use either pink gripfill or screw and plugs just use the correct size drill and 2 inch (50mm ) no 8 screws drill though the skirting board and then push the plug though the hole use the screw to set the plug behind the skirting then screw home fill the hole with filler .The use of pink grip fill is put dabs on the back at approx 3 in (75mm) gaps and push the board home you may have to brace this in place till the glue sets
You may wish to first knock off any plaster at the bottom of the wall that is proud of the rest just cut it back to remove any high spots

yes. try using non acetone nailpolish removers when you remove your nailpolish. if you do not wear any nailpolish use a clear gloss of neutral revlon or glass top seal. then all the onioning should go away. be sure to use cuticle oil moisturizer between your manicures. if it gets to a point it cant be helped always go for glass fill tips, they are a better choice than tips. when you remove tips they make your nail bed dense and causes damages, and cause them to be soft. always keep polish on your nails that helps too.
If you have a local beauty supply store they sell clear nail strenghthening polishes that are clear and prevent them from chipping, peeling and breaking. Obviousley once your nails grow to a certain point they're gonna break, but it helps.

As soon as there is enough to trim without hitting the quick. I recommend using a pedipaw filer. You could also get some soft paws nail caps, you don't need to trim kitten nails before applying :)

As soon as there is enough to trim without hitting the quick. I recommend using a pedipaw filer. You could also get some soft paws nail caps, you don't need to trim kitten nails before applying :)
when they need triming trim them!!! it doesent matter what age just if they need it or not

i always buy glue on acrylic nails from places like Target and Big W and wear them for a couple of days. when i take them off, they are still in really great shape and i would like to reuse them. The only problem is they have dried glue on the back of them and don't stick very well.

The fake nails your are describing are not made of acyrlic they are a resin plastic. THey will disolve and crack if you use acetone even non-acetone. Sorry but they are a temporary thing, throw aways and only mean to be used once, maybe twice. THe build up of glue will not come off. The only think I can think of is to use a professional electric nail file but then you still run the chance of filing them to thing or cracking them. Gluing them on yourself is economical but then again is it really. Treat yourself and go get then done professionally. You won't have to worry about them for 2-3 weeks before having them filled in. Also if you do, make sure you go to a reputable professional salon not the everyday run of the mill, on every street corner nail salon. If you do you'd be better off to glue them on yourself.

In the beginning cut them longer than you will later just to begin the process, but look for the pink, inner part inside the nail, that is the quick and it will bleed if you cut too far back and hit the quick. If this should happen you can use a little styptic or baby powder to stop the bleeding. If you have never cut your cats nails before and it is not a kitten, you may want to take your cat to a vet and have it done. If you are determined to do it, have a little treat sitting along side your cat, wrap her in a towel and talk to her in a calm soothing voice, hold her in your lap, don't pull her leg or cause any harm or stress, To get the nail exposed, gently press on the pad with your thumb and index finger to expose the nail you will be cutting. Don't forget, if your cat has the normal amount of toes she will have five on each front paw and four on the backs. After trimming one or two nails, give her a treat, pet her, give her and yourself a little neutral time before proceeding.

Please be careful. Cutting them to short can cause extreem pain, bleeding, and other problems. I would not take any more than 1/8 of an inch off a full size cat, and less off smaller animals. It's much easier to do if you get the special clippers from the pet store. The cat's nails are just like human nails - the white part can be removed and you must not cut into the pink part which is the quick. It will bleed and cause pain.
Shorter isn't necessarily better if you are not experienced. Just take off the tips as you get the cat to accept having its paws handled. Better not to stress the cat or yourself. Even if you only get two or three nails on the first try you can just go back to it next day or a few hours later.
Instead of cutting the cats nails why don't you just have the front claws removed. Only if your keeping it as an indoor cat. Leave the back claws because they don't do any damage. Remove the front claws to protect your furniture. If your letting your cat go outside then don't remove them because they need claws for self defense. Clipping them is such a hard thing to do because their paws are much smaller than dogs so it hard to judge how short to cut them.
Yes, there is a pink part inside the claw, this is the quick that will bleed if you cut into it. Cats do have feeling in their claw and this quick is sensitive. I agree its easier to have a groomer or vet trim the claws for you - one groomer told me its easier to have one person hold the animal while the other trims the claws. If the cat is an indoor cat, you can have claw caps put on - they are cute plastic caps that help protect the furniture, and are changed monthly. Kind of like a manicure for cats. Declawing should only be done as a very last resort, some say this changes the behavior of the cat and not for the better, declawed cats bite more. Besides, declawing is very painful to a cat and requires overnight surgery and recovery time.
You can cut your cats nails but only just below the pink line which is the blood vein. If you cut that or above then it is very painful for the cat. The best bet is to go to the vet and have them show you just were to cut.

there is also a way of snipping the nails that takes the top sharpness off the nail. you snip the main part of the nail, then tilt it up just a tad and cut again, taking just the tiniest sharpness off the top of the already-trimmed nail. (ask your vet or groomer to show you how it's done, so you don't have to worry about clipping it too far.)

For the hair thing, get a SMALL trim. Dead ends make it grow slower. Its kinda like one step back and 3 steps forward. A small trim will make it grow very quickly.
eat healthier get a good growth nail polish enriched with vitamins, so it won't just stretch your nails and won't break as easily.

For the hair thing, get a SMALL trim. Dead ends make it grow slower. Its kinda like one step back and 3 steps forward. A small trim will make it grow very quickly.

I have been biting my nails for my entire life. The tip of my nail is about halfway to the end of the finger (there is a lot of skin between the end of the finger and my nail tip). What would be the best way to start repairing this mess ? Would I have better luck going to a doctor, a manicurist, or some other professional?

After that, buty the Sally Hansen Hard As Nails clear nail polish. Keep this on your nails - reapply every few days. Buy yourself a nice cuticle trimmer and keep your cuticles pushed back and trimmed.
Your nails will take a little while to look nice again.....but they will! :)

u might think about gettina a manicure. If you are a girl get fake nails, this has helped me in the past. the fake ones are not as edible.
wear cotton gloves around the house and to bed when possible.

You can get special nailpolish which are tasting REALLY dirty if you chew it.
buy a spray that smells sooo bad, then spray it at your nails. then you will stop biting your nails at no time

One of our two cats refuses to get his nails trimmed. Vets are very expensive, so we try to accomplish the task at home. He snarls and hisses when we attempt it. Our furniture cannot take any more of his abuse. We love him dearly, and he is quite a well behaved mouser. Any suggestions? I have been fortunate to get my cats young enough so they accepted nail trimming without problems. My old rescue cat would not let me touch her paws (or comb her). She went to the vet pretty regularly so they did the trimming.
A professional groomer should do it for $8-10 and the vet for about the same.
You can get a bottle of Rescue Remedy from a health foods store for under $20 and put some drops of that on his fur to help calm him. ';Dose'; him fifteen or twenty minutes before trying and then immediately before you pick him up.
Believe me, your cat has your ';number'; and he knows how to put you off - professionals are not that easily intimidated and the cat will probably not respond negatively anyway as they are somewhat intimidated by a stranger.
NEVER go after your cat with intention ';accomplish the task'; attitude. You can start by getting him accustomed to having his paws handled by massaging them when he is relaxed in your lap. You might spend a few weeks with just that conditioning.
Then always have the clippers handy and attempt to get ONE nail. Even if that is all you can do one nail every few days or even once a week is a start. Do another in the next attempt. Soon you may be able to get two at a time, eventually a whole paw!

my cat used to do this, but he knows that he has to do it now...here is some tips...

2)if it starts to hiss, push its head down against ur leg but not forcingly.
3)then grab one of its paws, and start clipping its nails

If you can have one person scruff and hold, with the other person trimming the nails, while you've got him down why dont you try some softpaws? This will leave more time in between trimmings AND save your furniture......

Next time you are having a petting session fondle his toes gently don't cut his nails just relax him and let him get used to you manipulating his toes. When you cut them gently cut one during a petting session and quit so it is no big deal. It will come, you just have to work at it and remember some cats are ticklish.

I have been fortunate to get my cats young enough so they accepted nail trimming without problems. My old rescue cat would not let me touch her paws (or comb her). She went to the vet pretty regularly so they did the trimming.
A professional groomer should do it for $8-10 and the vet for about the same.
You can get a bottle of Rescue Remedy from a health foods store for under $20 and put some drops of that on his fur to help calm him. ';Dose'; him fifteen or twenty minutes before trying and then immediately before you pick him up.
Believe me, your cat has your ';number'; and he knows how to put you off - professionals are not that easily intimidated and the cat will probably not respond negatively anyway as they are somewhat intimidated by a stranger.
NEVER go after your cat with intention ';accomplish the task'; attitude. You can start by getting him accustomed to having his paws handled by massaging them when he is relaxed in your lap. You might spend a few weeks with just that conditioning.
Then always have the clippers handy and attempt to get ONE nail. Even if that is all you can do one nail every few days or even once a week is a start. Do another in the next attempt. Soon you may be able to get two at a time, eventually a whole paw!
Even softly say ';this little piggy went to market, etc'; or sing a soft little song to him.

I've bitten my nails for the last 21 years and I stopped about a month ago. I'm proud to say that they're quite long now, but I don't know how to make them look nice. A piece of tile with a rough surface, a non-smooth climbing rock, a large branch, or even a pile of playground sand in one corner for digging (exercise, mental stimulation and will wear down claws).
If they are extremely overgrown and sharp you can take a pair of nail clippers and snip off about 1/8';... For really badly overgrown claws you will do this twice a week til they are normal length. Providing ways to wear them down by themselves is a much better option though.

go to the rspca or and exotic vet and ask them to cut there nails itll cost a little amount or let your beardies run on a rough surface such as the grip on your bath but the vets is quicker and twice as safe as ive seen accidents before with my friends bearded dragons were theyve cutn there nails or theyve let them run on routh surfaces
ask petco or petsmart theyll have the best answers or the place you got it from..
and do some research.

How do you put decals on your nails?
I've never had to do this so I don't know the answer. I have a daughter who is putting some stickers on her nails and she has asked me how they should go? i haev found this product called nailtek it works amazing! my clients love it its about 15 bucks or there is another one by witch craft that is pretty good and about half the price. you can get nailtek from a salon/spa beauty shop or witch craft from a drugstore or walmart

How can I make my nail polish last longer on my nails?
I do a base coat and top coat yet my nail polish chips the same day. Is there anything that will make the nail polish stay on for atleast a few days without chipping? Any ideas? Thanks!!How can I make my nail polish last longer on my nails?

One thing that we do in the salon that most women don't do at home is clean the nail before applying the polish. I use a product by CND called Scrub Fresh. You can also use acetone or an acetone based remover.How can I make my nail polish last longer on my nails?
If your nail polish chips the same day you are using the wrong kind of nail polish and probably applying the coats too thick. My favorite nail polish is OPI. You can get it at Trade Secret, Ulta or JCPenney. It costs $7.50 a bottle, but I use my Ulta rewards and get it for free. OPI makes a product called Chip Skip, which you apply as a base coat, then apply two coats of polish, and then apply the OPI Rapid Dry top coat. Your nails should go several days without chipping. When you apply the polish, never put on more than two coats at once, and apply two thin coats using just enough color to even coat each nail. When you apply the polish too thick, it never gets a chance to dry thoroughly.
one coat of base, let dry well, 2 coats of polish, let dry well between, two coats of top coat, letting dry well. Use polish remover on nails before starting to get all the oil off them
i love sally hansen no-chip topcoat, works well for me! good luck! :)
