What type of nails do you use to install Hardiplank?

I am planning to install the Hardipaneling on the sides of a shed, and was wondering what type of nail was suitable. I plan on nailing it by hand so I know that will probably make it a little more difficult. ThanksWhat type of nails do you use to install Hardiplank?
You can use standard 2.5 inch galvanized splitless siding nails. I use a gun, but it can be done by hand but you will have to pre-drill all your holes, or the hardiplank will crack and you will have problems starting the nails without them bending. You can not use screws. When you tighten the screw the tapered head of the screw will also crack the hardiplankWhat type of nails do you use to install Hardiplank?
don't use nails, use screws.
6d galvanized
