How do we prevent roof nails from sticking out under house eaves?

Our new home we are building has open eaves that stick out 2 ft around the house. The roofer said all nails have to stick out under the eaves 1/4 inch. The roof sheathing is 7/16 OSB. But the hundreds of nails sticking out look really bad. How do homes built with shingles %26amp; open eaves avoid this? We are in a HIGH Wind Area too.How do we prevent roof nails from sticking out under house eaves?
I think your contractor was too lazy to locate a supplier of nails that were 1/4 inch shorter. Now you have some work to do (but not as much as some have suggested). Carefully go around and bend the nails over with a hammer before painting. Be careful not to knock the nails back up which would loosen the roofing. How do we prevent roof nails from sticking out under house eaves?
Most houses do not have open eaves. You could cover your eaves with a thin sheet of board and run it along the bottom part of the roof truss to cover the nails. This would preserve your ';open eaves'; look and cover the unsightly nails.
I have seen houses with open eaves %26amp; they never had nails sticking out. He should have bought shorter nails.
I cover them with Styrofoam packing material
