What kind of condition do your nails need to be in before getting gel nails apllied?

What kind of condition do your nails need to be in before getting gel nails applied??? My cuticles are in pretty good shape, but a few of my nails are shorter.... You only need to make sure that you don't have any nail infections of your own natural nails, otherwise you can have gel nails applied. Keep in mind that gel nails cannot be removed at home on your own. it dosent matter what the condition is before you get them put on, but when they take them off your nails will be seriously trashed. thin brittle and all scratched up. i will never have nails again.
I wouldn't suggest getting gel nails at all. They, like acrylic, will ruin your natural nails and possibly cause permanent damage to the nail bed. There are several products out there that if you use consistently will make your natural nails very pretty.
